Hey followers (or whoever sees this!),
In case you guys didn’t already know, my name’s Megan, Im 20 years old, and I’m from New York! I just wanted to let you guys know something I’m going to be trying really hard to do in the next year and, if you’d like, you can give me a hand!
Now, if you visit my blog (which is currently found at roosterhunter.tumblr.com), you’ll see that there’s a little Paypal Donation button right on the homepage. Well! I’m going to explain to you what it’s there for and, if you feel so inclined, I’d really appreciate any and all donations!
Like most people reading this, I grew up (and still remain) incredibly shy around other people. I have some kind of an anxiety disorder and, as such, it’s really hard to me to make friends, primarily because I feel like nobody actually likes me nor especially enjoys hanging out with me, on top of the fact that I don’t really see the benefits in being friends with somebody like me, which is probably why I took to the concept of the Internet as young as I did, probably around the age of 12. And, since then, I’ve been introduced to the beauty of Internet Friendships.
I’ve been in a few online social ground before, but none of them could ever compare to what I have now. For the past 3-4 years, these people, a group I like to refer to as PokeTwitter (I’d say about 15+ people), have honestly been my dearest friends. I don’ want to get all mushy about it, but these people have honestly been one of the best parts of every single day of my life since I’ve met them. They’re all funny, unique, and know just how to make me laugh, or cheer up when I have a bad day. They all have a myriad of interests, and somehow, I feel like we were all meant to find each other. The problem is, as many of you know, is the distance. We’re all spread across the world, some few states away, and others as far as Australia (I’m looking at you, Jonno and Tash)! However, a good chunk of them live on the West Coast, mainly in California.
California is also the host of an awesome convention called Anime Expo, which typically takes place in late June - early July. And so, for three+ years, my California-Texas friends have all met up and gone together. And, while I would love to go, a round-trip ticket from New York to California runs upwards of about $1,000 by itself, excluding the costs of everything else (cosplay, AX tickets, money for food, merch, etc.)
As a 20-year-old college student, money definitely isn’t easy to come by. I’ve only held one job in my entire college career thus far (two total in my life), due to the fact that jobs are extremely difficult to come by, especially in a college town. The money I do earn typically goes towards food and school supplies (which, for my non-college/homeowning/renting/what-have-you readers, can come to be very very expensive!). On top of this, my family still holds issue with the concept of “online friends”, and kind of dismisses the entire idea (“You can’t honestly call yourself friends with somebody you’ve never met.”) Not to mention my dad is NYPD, so….yeah, haha. If you think you’ve heard the talk about the dangers of the Internet, just imagine what I’ve been through!
Honestly, going to Anime Expo next year would easily be the best experience of my life so far, right up there with being accepted into college. I know this might sound dumb to some of you, but like I said prior, these people have honestly been my saving Grace so many times before, and I’d really do anything to meet them. I’ll be trying real hard to save up the amount of money I’ll need come June but, like I said, this won’t be easy to do by myself. So that’s why I’m coming to you guys! As it stands right now, if every follower I have donated just one dollar each, I’d have 430 dollars, which would pay for about half my plane ticket, or at least one high-quality cosplay. And, if word spreads, who knows! I might actually be able to meet my friends (:
I’m assuming this trip, rounded, will cost me about three-thousands dollars (Plane ticket, at least two cosplays, AX tickets, Hotel rooms, food, merch, etc). So, even if you could donate just one dollar, I’d really be the happiest girl imaginable.
So! Like I said, you should be able to find my donation button right on my homepage. I’ve got it set so you can donate any amount of money you want, so don’t feel pressured by set amounts! Just donate what you can - any little amount of help goes a really long way for this one.
If you an’t afford to donate, that’s fine! However, I’d really appreciate it if you SPREAD THE WORD! Reblog, Signal Boost, Tell your friends, buy a billboard (don’t actually do that)! Even just passing the word around would probably put tears in my eyes :’)
Thank you so much for reading, guys! And don’t forget to donate or spread the word!
I love you all, and have a fabulous day! <3
Hey guys, I know this doesn’t have anything to do with Leo, but any and all help would really be appreicated! -Mod
